White House Response and Political Divide
The White House dismissed the demonstrations, with a spokesperson labeling them “Trump Derangement Therapy Sessions” and claiming the only people who care “are the reporters who are paid to cover them”.
Since returning to office in January 2025, Donald Trump has significantly expanded executive authority, issuing sweeping orders that critics say weaken federal institutions and democratic norms.
He has also directed law enforcement officials to pursue what he describes as political adversaries, further intensifying controversy.
Addressing accusations of authoritarianism, Trump pushed back in a previous interview: “They’re referring to me as a king. I’m not a king,” he said.
