“Four water-bombing helicopters will be added tomorrow to strengthen suppression operations,” said Seskab Teddy. “Fire trucks are prepared to support ground operations. The provision of pumps, water pipes, and water drilling machines continues to be fulfilled to secure the water supply for suppression efforts,” he added.

In addition to extinguishing existing hotspots, the government is placing prevention at the forefront of its strategy. Readiness across all elements in the field is constantly enhanced to prevent fires from spreading or new hotspots from appearing.

Data and Law Enforcement in Forest Fire Management

Based on data from the Ministry of Forestry, the area affected by forest and land fires in Central Kalimantan from January 1 to August 1, 2026, was recorded at 7,634.46 hectares. This figure is lower compared to several previous years due to heightened preparedness and mitigation steps taken by the government.

“This figure is lower than the burned area in previous years, thanks to continuously strengthened readiness,” Seskab Teddy explained.

President Prabowo remains optimistic that the forest and land fires in Central Kalimantan will be controlled soon. The government will continue to bolster field management while strictly enforcing the law against any parties proven to have deliberately started fires.
