Pattern of Provocative Behavior
This is not the first time the american youtuber has been involved in controversy. Khalid is widely known for producing provocative content that has led to bans from several streaming platforms.
He has faced accusations of harassing individuals during his travels in Japan and Israel. In one incident earlier in 2024, he was detained during a protest in Tel Aviv after making inappropriate remarks toward a female police officer, though he was later released.
While in Japan in 2023, Khalid drew criticism for mocking locals and making insensitive comments about the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He was also fined 200,000 yen (around $1,400) after disrupting a restaurant by blasting loud music.
During the investigation period in South Korea, Khalid continued to provoke controversy. He reportedly challenged locals to fight him, with several viral clips showing him being chased and physically confronted in public spaces.
He also caused disturbances on public transportation, vandalized a convenience store, and streamed explicit content in public areas—further damaging his reputation.
Apology Met With Skepticism
Following the backlash, Khalid issued an apology in November 2024, stating that he “didn’t understand the significance of the statue.” However, many online users questioned the sincerity of his statement, pointing to his history of similar behavior.
